February
Well this month can be summed up pretty easily - STUDY! During this month I was taking a very difficult course in Chemistry that included quantum mechanics, spectroscopy and statistical mechanics so I didn't actually do much besides go to school...social life generally involved my two lab partners Nathalie and Gleb. I must say that without them I might have just gone crazy, but we kept ourselves entertained and even found humor in such things as the vibrations of a water molecule or the fact that our neighboring lab group managed to lose the oxygen in their computer simulated water molecule (and yes we still have no idea how they managed that) Kara, Mel and Emilie were all travelling about between Germany, France, England and Scotland that they practically weren't there this month so I didn't have many distractions. The highlights of this month include the Karneval Queue on February 5 where I stood for three hours and enjoyed the company of other students and blueberry soup which is actually quite good! In beginning of March was the Karnevelj which was a huge party with about 4000 people where they presented the Karneval theme, had a big show and a live band. Under each chair was a drink packet for everyone that included the official Karnevöl (Karneval beer), snaps, punsch and juice.
Karneval - Three day fest happening May 19-21 in the center of Lund every 4 years and this years theme is Dualkarneval. The event is quite big and I am participating in the a group called the Området (this means 'the area' and we are in charge of actully building the karneval grounds including fences, tents and stages) It is the second largest volunteer event after the Olympics and provides a huge opportunity for students to do what they do best...aside from studying of course :-)
