Chemistry!

As promised here are some photos of my "officespace". Lab day starts every day around 10 am for me and I usually stay until about 4 in the afternoon, although sometimes its 5, 6 or even 8. Currently I'm working on ligand synthesis in the inorganic department of the Kemicentrum at Lund. I won't go into any more detail as it probably isn't very interesting for most :-) But if you're curious, then you can probably click on image to your right and zoom in on the text. Below is the view I have from the window just to the right of my desk, it looks out over north Lund and some horse stables . The huge IDEON science complex is just off to the right. Anyways, since I was out and about with the camera, I also took a picture of the Nation at which I and many other international students are members. It's strange to see it in daylight, but this is where I've spent many a Wednesday night at Club Metro. I live up the street and to the right a bit so it's less than a five minute walk.

Sunset in Lomma

Saturday afternoon I cycled out to this beach in Lomma, a little town about 9 km from Lund. We've had beautiful autumn weather here in Skåne so I'm taking advantage of it! Sitting on the dock, I took this photo of the 16 km long Øresund Bridge which connects southern Sweden and Denmark. Moments later the sun set over the eastern Danish coast. The orange and golden colors were absolutely fabulous.

More Göteborg

Thanks to friends and digital technology, I now have a few more pictures from the trip to Göteborg, including a less blurry picture of my dinner :-)

Group photo taken by our waiter at the restaurant. From left to right are Tina, me, Stephan, Stefan, and Alfredo. Below left is a quiet street in Gothenburg early Sunday morning. We were waiting on the tram to take us to the ferry departure point when I took this photo. To the right is me hugging a bullet in the ship museum...I promise it has nothing to do with the fact that I live in Texas :-) Finally, us on the ferry to the island.

Kanelbullar Dag!

Well it was National Cinnamon Roll Day so I decided to celebrate by making my own batch! These are not from a box...they are completely made from scratch. I even got to use live yeast cultures, which do not come in the dry form as they do in the States but rather in clay like cubes. At any rate, this is the result three hours later :-)
